Wishing Change Away

11 Feb 2010

It is a very cold afternoon today, and raining. If it was just a few degrees colder, everything would change. Rain has a way of cleaning up, but snow can cover with beauty. I have always loved the first snow, when from the tops of the trees to the ground there is a calming quiet and the smallest light seems to brighten the darkest of nights. Snow insulates all the familiar noise and I like that. But like most things snow quickly loses its beauty as Man fights to keep life going at full-speed, the plows move into action, sand spread, sidewalks shoveled and salt is cast. The snow quickly attracts the ugliness it was covering. The rain will eventually come clean it away too.
