Big events in life seem to bring people together, people who would normally not choose to associate with each other or even those that have strong feelings of hate towards each other.  Hurricanes, earthquakes, flooding, and death are a few examples of events that occur and people choose to set aside their differences, even if for just a short time.

There is tension and conflict in everyday living, that is life.  Everyone has their struggles from within, their own personal demons and pressures caused from others.  When a big event occurs the tension and conflict shifts, instead of standing separate to battle their own personal issues people stand united to meet the issue in front of them.  Standing united, all personal issues are set aside for the greater good.

It is terrible that it takes a big event to bring some people together, and saddening that all the gains are forgotten within a very short period of time.  But within the chaos resides peace.  Maybe it is just me, but I have found peace in some very chaotic situations.  Maybe it is the inner conflict I enjoy getting away from.

The following movie short ‘Strangers’ really captures what I’m talking about.  In the movie there is a Jewish Man, a Muslim Man and some Neo-Nazi’s.  The men could all easily represent different people or even countries.  The events that happen change their views, if only for a moment.
