Getting ready for a stress-less Christmas.

22 Dec 2011

At the beginning of this month, my wife and I got away for the weekend…alone. Pictured above is the view from the tub in the suite we stayed in at the Channel House in Depot Bay. The view, the weather, the relaxation and an adult only weekend was just what the Doctor ordered.

We stayed in the Swiftsure room. It’s on the main level with a spectacular view of the Pacific. The jacuzzi tub is on the deck, so it’s possible to flash people who are at the whale watching center, so we did. The tub is reasonably private and we didn’t feel uncomfortable at all using it, besides if someone was watching they didn’t see too much anyway (no potential for viral video).

It’s a Bed & Breakfast, and we took advantage of the breakfast on both mornings. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruits, pastries, yogurt, coffee, tea, juices, and more. The food was really good and the view in the breakfast room feels like we were over the ocean.

The Saturday afternoon we had lunch at the Black Fish cafe. It was pretty good food, but I was surprised they don’t serve bread with their pasta at lunch, which really made the meal feel unfinished to me. On Sunday we had chowder at McMenamins in Lincoln City, it was the best clam chowder I have had in a very long time (outside of the chowder I make). For dinner we opted for getting some groceries and eating in the room, was nice being lazy.

It would be great to make it an annual trip. It’s so close and we really enjoyed just Hanging out with each other with no schedule to attend to. Added bonus is no kids under 16!

Hope your Christmas is a blessed one!
